| Relatives Question Robbery Motive in Deadly Shooting |
New surveillance footage has prompted relatives to question whether a fatal shooting at a Kingston bar was a robbery or a targeted attack.
Fresh surveillance footage has sparked new questions surrounding the fatal shooting of a man initially believed to be an inDrive operator during an incident at a bar on Maxfield Avenue in Kingston.
While police have previously treated the incident as an armed robbery that turned deadly, relatives of the deceased now believe the shooting may have been something more targeted.
The victim was fatally shot shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday during an armed attack at the establishment. However, family members claim newly surfaced CCTV footage appears to challenge the robbery narrative and raises concerns that the killing may have been planned.
The additional surveillance video, reportedly obtained by Moon10, captures moments before the shooting occurred.
According to the footage, several men gathered outside the bar, including one wearing a green striped shirt.
The video allegedly shows two armed men approaching the group and forcing them inside the establishment at gunpoint.
Earlier footage from inside the bar showed the victim standing near the entrance as the gunmen entered the premises.
According to reports, the armed men instructed those outside to get the victim to open the door. Once the entrance was opened, the gunmen reportedly entered immediately behind the group.
The suspects were later seen moving around the bar area.
However, the victim's family believes the apparent search conducted by the gunmen may have been staged.
Relatives allege that the attackers were not genuinely searching for cash or valuables and instead used the robbery as a cover for a targeted killing.
After moving throughout the establishment, the suspects reportedly brought the victim from the rear section of the building back toward the front.
Reports indicate that demands for money were made before gunshots were heard.
The victim was later shot and killed during the confrontation.
Family members point to additional footage that allegedly shows the man in the green striped shirt returning to the area where the victim was lying shortly after the shooting.
According to relatives, the individual was seen near the scene at approximately 1:14 a.m., then left with others.
The family believes this behaviour raises additional questions and has suggested the possibility that the individual was checking on the outcome of the attack.
Another issue being raised by relatives is the timeline of events following the shooting.
They allege that no immediate report was made to the police after the incident occurred and claim that authorities only discovered the body later that morning.
Police have not publicly confirmed the family's allegations or indicated that investigators are treating the matter as a targeted killing.
Detectives continue to examine surveillance footage, collect witness statements, and investigate all aspects of the case.
At this stage, authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the fatal shooting.
The investigation remains active.
