Kingston Bar Robbery Turns Deadly for InDrive Driver

A man believed to be an inDrive operator was fatally shot during an armed robbery at a bar on Maxfield Avenue in Kingston shortly after midnight on Saturday, June 14.

The deadly incident was reportedly captured on the establishment's CCTV system, which recorded the frightening moments as armed men took control of the premises and terrorised patrons.

Alleged InDrive Operator Killed During Armed Hold-Up

According to reports, the victim had stopped in the area to pick up a passenger when he unknowingly became caught up in the robbery.

The surveillance footage allegedly shows two masked gunmen entering the business shortly after 1:00 a.m. and forcing several people who were gathered outside to move back inside at gunpoint.

At the time, the driver was reportedly standing near the entrance of the establishment.

The nearly two-minute video shows the suspects taking control of the bar while ordering patrons and staff toward the rear section of the building.

Reports indicate that five men, including the driver, were forced to move to the back while the robbers searched for cash and valuables.

One of the suspects was reportedly seen searching behind the counter while the second gunman monitored the surroundings and kept watch for approaching vehicles or police officers.

Moments later, the driver was reportedly escorted toward the front of the building by the armed men.

The footage allegedly shows the suspects demanding money from the driver while he repeatedly indicated that he had no cash.

The situation quickly escalated, and gunshots were reportedly heard moments later.

The victim collapsed near the entrance of the establishment while the suspects immediately fled the scene.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force has launched an investigation into the fatal robbery and is reviewing surveillance footage as detectives attempt to identify and locate the suspects.

The incident has sparked concern among residents and transportation operators, particularly rideshare drivers, who often work late-night hours and may unknowingly encounter dangerous situations while making pickups.
